  5. It's rare that you play an album and it has the immediate quality of being a classic, a collection of smoky love ballads suggestive of riding a convertible speedster as you take a jaunt around the coast of southern Italy. The album reminds me of a collaboration between Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach a couple of years ago, which I liked/5(43).
  6. Cousteau's debut full-length is almost a victory of style over lingventwiggtamqueto.resniamueriiproccitmebervoisedisdu.counately, many of the songs and arrangements fall a bit flat. The late-'60s work of Scott Walker is clearly the biggest influence of the band. While Davey Ray Moor and compatriots do get the atmosphere right, some of the songs simply flutter apart before they get going.

  8. Cousteau are a London-based band who enjoyed considerable international success, particularly in Italy and the U.S. from to The band's sound has been compared to Burt Bacharach, Scott Walker and David Bowie with an updated contemporary edge.. Their best known song remains the single "The Last Good Day of the Year", from their eponymous debut album.
  9. Yes, Cousteau reminds us of Scott Walker, but has also something of Lloyd Cole. Anyway, for any reason, this is an elegant pop album good to listen late in the evening, with (or for) someone. The first half of the album works better, although one of the best (if not the best) songs of this album, 'Wish You Were Her', is in the second half.
